Yuuloracingtips Sunday Selections from Sha Tin & Leopardstown

Sha Tin

Chairman’s Trophy (Group 2) 08.10
Galaxy Patch
This Group 2 can go to Galaxy Patch, who will appreciate this return to the mile trip. The step up to 10 furlongs in the Hong Kong Gold Cup did suggest to me he’ll be better dropping back to this trip, although he was a fine second in the Hong Kong Derby as a four year old over that trip. Galaxy Patch has a wide draw, so expect Zac Purton to be threading his way through after the turn for home, when the gaps will open up. Beauty Joy hasn’t looked at his best this season, and is now a veteran at eight, while Beauty Eternal is just starting to find some form after finishing fourth in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup, so is the obvious danger. Galaxy Patch to score back at his optimum trip.

Sprint Cup (Group 2) 09.15
Ka Ying Rising
The race that is all about Ka Ying Rising, who is undoubtedly the best sprinter in the world this season. For all that, David Hayes superstar has only ever been seen round this track, so might not be registering his status on all four corners of the earth, but for me, he’s just about the racing certainty of his generation over 6 furlongs. It’s very hard to see past him on his home track, so the value is working out who is going to chase Ka Ying Rising home, and for me, that is Helios Express, who is getting closer to Ka Ying Rising with every run. Lucky With You steps out of handicap company in search of the hat-trick, and he could be the best of the rest, but it’s got to be Ka Ying Rising and Helios Express as the one-two.

Leopardstown

‘Look De Vega’ At Ballylinch Stud Fillies Maiden 2.00
Crystal Ball
It could pay to take a chance on Donnacha O’Brien’s Crystal Ball for the opener on Sunday. She’s a Wootton Bassett filly, so will have plenty of speed in the pedigree, but can see out the mile with stamina on the dam’s side. The well bred Intensify from Aidan O’Brien’s yard rates the danger if fully tuned up for her racecourse debut, and is well connected being a sister of Newspaperofrecord, so should have this trip in her range. Crystal Ball to make a winning start, with Intensify keeping her up to her work.

Ballylinch Stud ‘Red Rocks’ Stakes (Group 3) (Colts & Geldings) 2.35
Henri Matisse (nap)
Aidan O’Brien has a fine production line of juveniles from last season coming into their Classic year, and Henri Matisse is just one of those exciting talents on show here. The Wootton Bassett colt finished last year on a high, with victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar, to make it four wins from six starts as a two year old. Adrian Murray’s Arizona Blaze was also at Del Mar, finishing a fine second to Ger Lyons Magnum Force in the Juvenile Turf Sprint, and it’s on the cards that this step up to 7 furlongs will bring about even more. My book says Arizona Blaze to chase home the smart Henri Matisse.

BallyLinch Stud ‘Priory Belle’ Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) 3.10
Exactly
It’s often been the case that the Frankel fillies come to hand a bit earlier than the colts, so I’m comfortable with backing Exactly to carry on where she left off on her reappearance. She’s still available at a pretty generous 20/1 in the ante-post markets for the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket, with stablemate Bedtime Story also around that price, so should be winning this if that’s where she’ll be heading. A very good winner of the Killavullan Stakes on her final start last year, Exactly is a top prospect and hard to oppose.

P.W. McGrath Memorial Ballysax Stakes (Group 3) 3.45
Delacroix (nb)
The Aidan O’Brien show goes on in the Ballysax with Delacroix, who lost nothing in defeat when a nose second to Hotazhell in the Futurity to end last season. It was a real humdinger of a battle to the line on Town Moor, and having lost out on both runs here last year to Jessica Harrington’s Green Impact, Ryan Moore will be pleased not to see that rival in the line-up. By Dubawi, Delacroix is bred to see out this 10 furlong trip, though stablemate Puppet Master is a Camelot colt, so should also relish this extra couple of furlongs. Finally, the Australia sired colt Lambourn looks one to note, but Delacroix should just have the class to take this.
