The Yuuloracingtips Selections for Sunday March 15th

The Curragh

Castle Star At Capital Stud Irish EBF Maiden 1.40
Power Blue
Adrian Murray can get his Flat season off to a winning start with Power Blue. This Space Blues colt is well bred, with plenty of speed in the pedigree, and every chance that this yard can bring up a hat-trick of wins in this race. Power Blue has to come in from a wide draw in Stall 7, but David Egan is on hand to look for a good passage into the race. With stablemate Stonezilian next door in Stall 8, expect plenty of pace out wide from the off, with Power Blue the one I’m on.

Nua Healthcare Handicap 2.40
Big Gossey (nap)
Big Gossey comes home to the Curragh, looking for his eighth course win. Charles O’Brien has had him out three times at Dundalk already this year to tee him up for his first turf start of the new season, and as he always tends to need a run to hit top speed, that should have him ready to roll. Big Gossey isn’t getting any younger, so could be vulnerable to one from the next generation, so Ado McGuinness’s Apache Outlaw is noted, while Colin Keane is on Go Athletico for the same trainer, so also gets a mention. Big Gossey to fly out of the stalls and grab a fifth course and distance win.

Nua Healthcare Irish Lincolnshire (Premier Handicap) 3.45
Raadobarg
Raadobarg looks a decent pick for the feature, the Lincolnshire. We gave him for this race in 2022, where he got upsides of Comfort Line to win by 2 lengths, and is only 1lb lower than that winning mark. Now out of Raphael Freire’s new residence at Freemason Lodge in Newmarket, after the retirement of Sir Michael Stoute, the Brazilian trainer is looking to enhance his reputation from the same yard where the great Shergar was trained, and what better place to start. Gleneagle Bay has been prominent in the betting this week, and with Colin Keane in the hot seat and a nice draw in Stall 3, has to be considered, while Johnny Murtagh’s grey Take Heart is also likely to be on the premises. Raadobarg to turn the clock back for his new trainer and take the Lincolnshire again.

Saint-Cloud

Prix Omnium II (Listed) 12.58
Madero
Christopher Head’s Lope De Vega colt can take this Listed contest, chiefly at the expense of Group 3 runner-up Nesthorn. Francis-Henri Graffard’s Expert Eye colt did put in a good shift in the Prix des Chenes, but ultimately was no match for the free-running Misunderstood, and might once again find one too good in Madero. The selection has won both his starts on deeper ground, so with the early season going very soft at Saint-Cloud, Madero’s the one for me.

Prix Exbury (Group 3) 1.33
First Look (nb)
First Look became a bit expensive to back for followers after a fine runners-up spot in the French Derby last year, but gets a second chance here. Bought up by the ambitious Wathnan Racing enterprise, and moved into Andre Fabre’s yard, First Look can feature dropped in grade. It will be a fascinating clash with stablemates Sevenna’s Knight Map Of Stars. Sevenna’s Knight is usually seen plying his trade over further that this 10 furlong trip, so might find things a bit sharp, but did finish a fine fifth in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, while Map Of Stars has won three of his four starts, with 10 furlong wins at Longchamp and Compiegne. First Look to fulfil the promise of last year’s French Derby second to land this.
